a bun in the oven my booty

i don't mean to be a grump, but when will it be my turn to announce to the world we're expecting a baby?? heck, i'd settle to announce to the world we're moving out of our shoe box apartment and buying our first home - but that too seems pretty impossible and off in the distance most days. the couple we lived next to in college in married student housing just announced they're having a baby... we both were married about the same time, they've been married a little longer than we have, but we both lived in those awful student apartments for a while and we both moved out about the same time into apartments that were literally right across the street from each other and this is where things change. they went off and bought a house, a cute wonderful little house that has a yard and a great area for entertaining and three bedrooms and two bathrooms and plenty of space for a dog and cooking and shoes (i know this sounds silly but we litterally have no room for anything!)... we still are living in the same 700 square feet we've been living in for two years now. then today i find out they're expecting their first baby. we can't even find room to try out a puppy. i know it's not right to be jealous and i know our time will come, but it just seems unfair. we're paying the price for our very expensive education and are broke because of it. so there is no extra money to buy a home or have a baby or heck, even take a trip to the beach or buy some new work clothes... i know this is our choice. we're really trying to save money and pay down our debt. we could be spending our money in other ways. we have no one to blame but ourselves... but when i see a couple who started out just the same as us, minus the $80,000 in student loans, so happy and complete it's so hard not to be angry or jealous just a little bit. it just seems that we'll never make it to that point. michael has no ambition to get a better job and i can only do so much. i'm still new at my current job and not up for a raise for another six months... i'd like to stay home some day when we do have kids since we have no family in town to watch children, but that sure won't happen either at the rate we're going. i guess he can stay home with them?!? ugh - i'm being too negative. i know this. but it just still stings a little. when will it be my turn? when will all the penny pinching be worth it? when will we move out of our tiny tiny apartment and start a real life??? i know it won't be easy, nothing in life ever is, but it would be so nice even just be in a little townhome and to have a dog - it'd feel better than being squashed in our teeny tiny apartment with neighbors all around... guess i'm just feeling a little blue. i know God is good, our time will come and it will be the perfect time just for us. till then i guess i'll babysit alot and cuddle their new baby when it comes along and hope that our turn isn't TOO far off
