snowmagedden

i should have blogged by now, i have no excuse, we've been snowed in for the last three days. four inches of snow and a bit of freezing rain has literally brought the city of nashville to a screeching halt. it started on friday... i had the day off as i normally do and we had heard it was going to snow - but you know how it is here, they say it'll snow, it flurries and that's usually about it. we had picked up a few (and by few, i really mean few) extra snacks thursday night, just in case this killer snow storm really panned out (still not thinking it would do too much). friday morning we woke up - ugh, still no snow! bub left for work and i set about my normal friday routine of cleaning house and such. by ten though the snow was starting to fly and the roads were quickly getting slushy. bub's work closed down and sent him home and he got back just before it really started to pile up. all together i think we only got about four inches or so and then on top of that was a layer of freezing rain. it really isn't that much, but you add in our hills around here and the roads suddenly become very scary. the other thing that got a little scary was that we didn't have a whole lot of food. i always do the shopping on saturdays for the next week. well, like i said we picked up a few things (i.e. ice cream, chocolate yogurt and a block of cheese) just snacky little treats. by this morning we had like 1/2 a cup of milk, 2 eggs and one roll of toilet paper left. we had nothing for dinner and had just about eaten all our lunch meat and bread up. SO, we had to get out of the house and head to the grocery store. which we did, slowly and very carefully. the main roads were ok, but the side roads are a gross mess AND we live in place where you must either go down a pretty steep little hill or up one to get in or out. i'm a little worried about getting to work tomorrow... hope i can make it in on time! it's funny though, four inches of snow has cancelled school, church, the banks have closed, the malls closed on friday... everything. gotta love snow in the south!

ok - enough about the weather! what else has been going on in our little world... my class is moving right along. i have my first test this friday... still have lots of studying to do, but i think i'm doing ok. it's all very interesting to me so far and i'm loving it, even if it is sort of difficult and challenging.

ugh, i honestly have nothing exciting to say tonight. lack of social interaction for three days has sucked all the brain power out of my head.
