july, where have you gone?

happy tuesday! i'm so glad that tomorrow is wednesday... work has been so tough lately - it's sad how much i look forward to the weekends. i was just talking to jessica and we were saying, isn't it funny how when we were kids, without a care in the world and we got to enjoy whole summers off with nothing better to do but lay at the pool and hang out with friends, that the days seemed to just drag by, but now, with real jobs and bills and sick family and all the stress of daily life, time seems to totally fly by - seems to me you'd think it'd be the other way around, but here we are half way through july already - where has this year gone???

well our weekend ended wonderfully. sunday night was a benefit show for blood:water mission and it was featuring mathew perryman jones and sixpence none the richer AND it happened to also be in support of the nashville stop for the ride well tour - which donald miller (of the book blue like jazz) happened to be part of... so knowing how much michael loves anything by donald miller and how i've always wanted to see sixpence and also knowing how much we both support blood water - we HAD to go, it also didn't hurt that heather's sweet hubby was playing with mathew perryman jones and so we also got to show some support there too - it was the perfect storm of reasons to go to a show! it was certainly a great evening of music! i've wanted to see sixpence for almost six years now. when michael and i were first getting to know each other, i ran into him during GMA week, sixpence was doing a free show that evening and i wanted to go SO badly, but i spent the evening instead hanging out with him b/c i had a even BIGGER crush on him! well since then they broke up and i didn't think i'd ever see them play, but they reunited this past year, i think it was anyhow, and when i heard about this show i knew we had to go. it makes me sad some days, to think of moving - i know to be near family and to be some place we feel safe and secure is going to be totally worth it, but we sure do have alot of fun here. there were so many other artists there to see this show, i looked around and had to sort of laugh at how my tiny little life has intersected with many of the people in the room - from lightning 100 being the station airing the show to artists whose labels i had interned for to friends who were up on stage playing with them who also played at our wedding to dear friends who have been around through alot of ups and downs with us... it was just a very bittersweet evening. i don't know where life is going to take us over the next months and years, but i know i won't forget that evening...
