what a lovely weekend we have had! a busy, busy weekend, but a wonderful one none the less. friday i headed over to sweetwater for a visit with my momma. we had a lovely day together - i wish we lived closer together. saturday bub and i went for a very CHILLY walk at radnor lake. it was the first time in almost a year that we headed out to one of the local parks and i'm so glad we did it, even if it was totally freezing! we also went to bitner's, a local costume store that is getting out of the costume business, to get our very first halloween costumes! we've been together almost eight years now and not once have we celebrated halloween together and this year we've been invited to an official real halloween party and we are going! i am going as something called a ruby goddess, essentially a greek looking ladycake and bub is going as a greeky looking king sort of guy. i need to track down a size 7 1/2 gold high heel this week though - anyone have any suggestions for something on the cheap? we also stocked up on candy since this will be our first halloween as homeowners! we're really hoping we get trick-or-treators otherwise we are seriously stocked up on some candy!! what else? i guess that's about it, we went to church saturday night and then did the grocery shopping and house cleaning since we hosted community group today. we really are one happening kind of couple - church, grocery shopping and house cleaning on a saturday night... ooh and then i fell asleep watching SNL - we don't even have kiddos yet, we've got to get out there and live it up! or not - i'm pretty happy with the little "boring" weekends!
so my week one P90x update - we survived! bub lost 3 pounds, i lost nothing. blah! that's ok though, i worked my booty off and was sore every single day, so i figure it's working something, right?!?
so these pictures... i found on a crafty blog this project of carving a tiny pumpkin and putting a tea light in it so i thought i'd give it a whirl... i took the top off of it and got all the seeds out. then bub used his drill to put holes in it...
then we put the tea light in it and decided to admire our work... i was working on dinner (note, this pic was taken much later today as i just wanted to snap one in the dark in hope everyone could see the candle light)... anyhow, i was working in the kitchen and noticed a strong burning smell. we had the windows open, so i figured it was just a grill or someone burning leaves or something, however it was VERY strong. i asked bub if he smelled it too and he said, well do you think it's your pumpkin? and sure enough the lid of my pumpkin was smoking, i mean literally smoking, almost in flames. so there went that cute little idea. we took the lid off of it for the evening and the picture below is just a very quick staged photo before it quickly starting flaming again... argh! i think i needed either a bigger pumpkin or a smaller candle. oh well, it was fun making it!
