these are a few of my favorite things

i can not believe that november is very rapidly drawing to a close - where has this year gone? where has fall gone? december starts this week - ahh! soon enough it will be a new year.

rosalie is now 6 weeks old... she's such an amazing baby. she has started smiling at bub and i - though she mostly smiles at him. it's so precious! i'll be feeding her and he'll pop his head into her line of sight and she'll just get this huge grin on her face - it's the most amazing thing i've ever seen. this last week has been VERY rough though - she is either very colicky or something is going on with her tummy like reflux. she's just so unhappy and screaming for hours during the day. thanksgiving was an adventure. we were very kindly invited to bub's boss' house. we don't have family here in town so it was very nice to be invited to spend the day with another lovely family... well little miss thought otherwise and spent much of the day crying off and on and then 5pm rolled around and she decided to pull out the big guns. she screamed and SCREAMED and could not be consoled. then as i was trying to give her a bottle she puked it ALL up all over my shirt and jeans and all over her and the floor of this nice family's living room. i was alone in there and had to discretely find bub and all i could say was - help! we took our howler monkey home and she screamed some more. we had tried gas drops, gripe water, belly massage, keeping her upright after a meal, warm baths, swaddling, the swing, colic tablets, elevating the end of her bed... anything we could to make her happy. nothing much worked. THEN it was suggested that perhaps our little darling is lactose intolerant... bub ran, and i mean almost literally ran, to the grocery store and grabbed some soy formula and though we've only given her 4 or 5 bottles of it, i do believe we already have a new baby. she's calm and relaxed. her little body isn't tense and restless. she's burping after eating and not spitting up nearly as much. oh and she's NOT screaming. that's a nice change, both for her and mommy and daddy. let's hope that this was all she needed!

in none baby news - i start back to school in january! i'm taking a/p II, sociology and moral theology (a class required by the catholic college i'll be attending). while i didn't get into the nursing program, i did get accepted as a nursing intent student. and it honestly is a blessing that i didn't get accepted right away to the nursing program. it's very intense and time consuming - not something i'd be able to handle right now with sweet little nugget still so young. and i'm loving being home with her and being a stay at home lady, i am so thankful every day i get to do this as my "job" now - i'm not ready to give it up and do school and clinicals full time just yet.

sweetums is waking up - i best go... at least she's very sweetly stirring and not crying in pain. nothing will break your heart more than having a child be in pain and you being able to do nothing about it :-(
