mommy drinks because...

so a long time ago - a time before kiddos were even on my radar. a time full of college and late nights sneaking around with bub and ZERO responsibility to anything more than a homework assignment - i saw a onesie for a baby that read - "daddy drinks because of me". now, at that time i was half horrified - what a terrible thing to say about a little baby! and the other half - amused... thinking to myself, what poor, miserable parent would resort to drinking?!? a terrible one, that is for sure! fast forward six or seven years and here i am, the mother of a super amazing, beautiful, charming 7 week old baby daughter ... WHO also happens to be highly demanding, and i mean DEMANDING, colicky, constipated, acid refluxy, non-napping, cry at the drop of a hat, little bundle of joy and i'm starting to understand what sort of parent might resort to the bottle. we switched her to soy formula, which has helped - immensely - but she was a screaming howler monkey then and now she's just brought it down a notch. i'm glad for the break, but jeeze-la-weeze! mommy could have used a 20 minute breather this afternoon, but alas no. she just stayed awake all day, trying to poop and then screaming because she can't and screaming because she was tired and then screaming because i dared to pull her swing into the kitchen so i could cook dinner (what sort of momma am i????)

ok ok - all kidding aside, i really just needed to vent and the hubs is working late and i can't call anyone because who wants to try to chat to anyone with all the screaming going on? sweet rosalie is the apple of our eyes - we adore her! and even though she really does make mommy want to have a LARGE glass of wine from time to time, i love that she has a strong and fiery spirit. i hope this translates into a creative, independent, unique little spirit when she gets older. someone who won't back down easily and will leave a beautiful mark on this earth... but for the next few months if you come by our house, please do bring an adult beverage with you :-)
