feeling sheepish...
well i was embarrassed last night... let me tell you a story! sweet bub's birthday is next week, but we'll be up in IN with family, so i wanted to have a little surprise party for him here with all his friends. he loves thai food so i thought we'd try a new to us place down in cool springs and went about inviting everyone. we had 14 people RSVP that they would be there so i called the place - basil thai - and made the reservation. i called back twice to confirm since it was such a large number of people and it's so close to Christmas, just wanted to make sure they'd have room for us. this is where the story goes downhill... we're driving over to the place and bub has directions and he's telling me to turn into a strip mall... i say, uh no, the place we're going is nice. and he says, uh, no you need to go here... yep, turns out i got the NICE thai place confused with the strip mall thai place. we should have been at wild ginger and NOT basil thai... so we head over to the little place and there awaits our 14 guests (oh and FYI, turns out bub knew the whole time, wasn't a surprise at all!). turns out the place should NOT have taken my reservation... they were not prepared to seat 14 people. ok, in my defense, if they weren't ready for that many people, why did they not tell me that the several times i called to check on our reservation?? so we wait and wait and 30 minutes later they're still freaking out trying to seat us all together. i now have 14 hungry people looking at me wondering why we aren't eating? SOOO, i frantically call the original thai place i thought we should have been at - they're closed for a private party! i then call another place just around the corner and they say yes - come - they can seat us all right now... so i heard the group out to their cars and we head just down the street. we file in. wait. wait. wait. they can't handle all of us either. good grief! oh i felt so bad. this wasn't our normal group of friends. it was a large number of men (and their wives) that bub works with. i don't know them as well and looked like such a dummy in front of them. thank the Lord for bub's sweet boss - he has a lovely home down that way and invited us all over to his place. we ordered pizza and grabbed some beer and whew - we finally got everyone fed. needless to say this birthday was a disaster compared to last year's super fabulous surprise party. i can't believe i made such a stupid mistake getting the two restaurants mixed up! this is what severe sleep deprivation and an overly colicky baby will do to you!
