let's all keep our fingers crossed that we've discovered the cure for babes colic issues... here's what we're doing!
1. she got a prescription for baby nexium yesterday. she's only had two doses, but this should help with her acid reflux.
2. sweet girl is also having trouble poo-ing and none of the home remedies were working... not karo syrup, baby fruit juice, the "thermometer trick", tummy rubs - nothing. so she got a prescription for some super sugary poo-making juice. this should hopefully help cut down on the screaming because the poor baby can't poop!
3. we propped the head end of her bassinet on several books to help with the reflux. this however hasn't been super helpful since we find her scooted down at the bottom because of the incline!
4. swaddling! we purchased a "miracle blanket". i didn't think she would like it and i'm not sure she really does, but daddy will wrap her up nice and snug in it and she sleeps, sometimes. i can't for the life of me figure out how to wrap her up in it the right way and she usually ends up with a hand poking out! thank goodness bub doesn't mind doing all the wrapping :-)
5. the swing! she will, usually (unless it's a REALLY colic-y day) swing happily for an hour or so at a time in her swing.
6. the vacuum! in times of super distress simply plug the vacuum in, park near babes and turn on. she goes into a quiet, happy baby trance.
and finally,
7. leave the house! i am SOOOOO thankful to be able to stay home with rosie, but after a full day of hearing her scream and feeling helpless to get her to stop, by the time michael gets home i'm ready to run for the hills and he kindly allows me to do that. i don't go away long, just an hour or so and i try to do something relaxing like a yoga class and i come home ready to take on another full night of the tears. i'm so thankful to have such a supportive and understanding hubby.
i would NEVER wish a colic-y baby on anyone, but should you find yourself blessed with one of this spirited little ones these things should help!

Mommyhood is definitely not easy, BUT I can assure you that it gets better... soon! Taylor turned around at about 9-10 weeks. Have you ever tried a sling? If not, you can try mine when you come to IN. It is the ONLY thing that would calm T down at times. I'll gladly let you borrow it if she likes it!
