so it's cold and icky and icy here. davidson county schools have been closed ALL week b/c of 3 inches of snow. and as crazy as that sounds, it makes sense. the roads are icy and slick b/c they just aren't equipped to handle that sort of thing down here... SO i'm going to start plotting my spring green thumb projects to get my mind off the ugliness going on outside.
typically i just spruce up the front yard. i've got two flower beds up front and i love to go to home depot and stock up on fun and colorful flowers. bub has the rest of the yard, but the front flower beds are mine. i love to do it! this spring i'm going to take it a step or two further. first, we're going to jump in and plant a for REAL garden. like a big giant patch of dirt in the back yard with all sorts of veggies and such. i want to make rosie's baby food so i'm going to plant things like peas, carrots and sweet potatoes. we're also going all super little house on the prairie and we're going to adopt three little chickens. i want to find the craziest looking little boogers i can find. i'm not even really sure where you buy a live chicken in a city like nashville though? thought i'd check out craigslist - i'm sure i can find someone selling chickens. but i want to get nutty looking ones like this... ok - i'm dumb - why can't i figure out how to post pictures where i want them??? anyhow -looks like my crazy chicken picture is at the top of the blog. that silly chicken is a banty chicken. that is what i want! anyhow - then we can give little rosiecakes fresh organic eggs when she's ready to eat them.
i'm not really all that into being outside... it's funny what you'll do for your kiddos. now if we can just figure out how to keep our neighbors gross, wild, poop-on-EVERYTHING cats out of our yard i'll be a happy girl :-)
